Senior Gameplay Programmer
Red Rover Interactive is an exciting new game development studio founded by industry veterans from renowned companies such as Funcom, Lockwood Publishing, Bohemia Interactive, Ubisoft Reflections, and more. We're on a mission to reimagine the multiplayer gaming landscape, with an emphasis on crafting groundbreaking survival experiences that champion player agency and drama.
The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Gameplay Programmer with a strong background in survival game development and multiplayer systems. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and refining gameplay systems, ensuring that our mechanics are both engaging and technically sound. This role requires both a strong engineering foundation and the ability to micro-design and iterate rapidly in response to player feedback and evolving creative goals.
- Design, implement, and maintain core gameplay systems for a multiplayer survival game.
- Quickly create and iterate on gameplay features and mechanics to explore new ideas.
- Develop and optimize networked features, ensuring smooth and consistent multiplayer experiences.
- Work closely with designers, artists, and other programmers to bring gameplay ideas to life
- Diagnose and resolve gameplay-related issues, performance bottlenecks, and replication errors.
- Write and maintain clean, efficient, and well-documented code for gameplay features.
- Implement and refine core gameplay mechanics in line with design specifications.
- Optimize gameplay features for better performance and reduced memory usage on target platforms.
We are looking for someone who:
- Proficiency in C++ and/or C# programming languages.
- Strong Unreal Engine experience
- Proven experience with Unreal’s Gameplay Ability System
- Deep understanding of replication in Unreal Engine
- Skilled in designing and implementing multiplayer gameplay systems
- Experience with implementing and optimizing gameplay systems and mechanics.
- Familiarity with multiplayer and networked game systems.
In addition, we expect you to have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a gameplay programmer, preferably on shipped survival or multiplayer titles.
- Strong plus: Plays and understands multiplayer survival games
